Shelter Pet Stories

Kit Kat has been at the shelter for a long time. She doesn’t like other cats so that is the first strike against her. She is an all black cat and that is strike two because black cats are generally looked over when potential adoptors visit the shelter. She does have one thing going for her. She is a super sweetie and a real charmer. Note from one of the caretakers – “I visited her today and she was hiding out in a cabinet sleeping on a bunch of towels. She came right out to see me and wanted to sit in my lap.” All the shelter workers keep telling her she will get a home but nothing has happened. She is too nice of a kitty to sit in the shelter day in and day out. Could you give Kit Kat a home?

Sugar was found wandering around loose and no one came to claim her. She is an older girl at about 10 yr old, she is active and loves to go for walks but she enjoys just hanging out as well, she is a great companion dog. Blue is a very sweet older gal at 9 yrs old. She likes to walk and is crate trained. She is fairly calm and likes companionship. She is not happy being in the shelter . Blue was diagnosed with a trachial disease which often effects older dogs. The trachea swells making it difficult to breathe, this disease is progressive but can be controlled with anti-inflammatory drugs. Blue is on prednisone (which is very inexpensive) every other day and seems to be doing better; she will need to be on it for the rest of her life,she cannot go for long walks and needs to be in an air conditioned area when it gets real hot out. Blue is looking for a home to live her last years in, someone who is interested in giving an old gal comfort for the time she has left.
